:: Remote Experimental Laboratory – RExLab
The Remote Experimental Laboratory, established in 1997 within the Department of Informatics and Statistics at the School of Technology (INE/CTC/UFSC), was a pioneer in Brazil in the development of technologies for conducting laboratory experiments remotely via the Internet. The main objective of remote experimentation is to enable the sharing of resources among educational, research, and other institutions, thereby reducing the costs of education and of scientific and technological development. The group is affiliated with the Graduate Program in Information and Communication Technologies (PPGTIC) and the Graduate Program in Knowledge Engineering and Management (PPGEGC).

:: Social Bioethics Observatory – BIOPSYS
The research lines of the BIOPSYS Group fall within the area of interest currently known as Translational Medicine, which focuses on the processes of technology transfer between genomic-based research and medicine. In other words, it emphasizes the direct connection between genomic-based scientific research and the development of innovative products and processes for clinical practice, often referred to as “From Bench to Bedside”. This initiative inherently requires multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary knowledge, particularly in the fields of biomedicine, biotechnology, bioethics, and integrative bioinformatics, among others. Given the complexity and scope of these areas, the BIOPSYS group brings together researchers from diverse fields, including biomedicine, biology, computer and software engineering, materials engineering, philosophy, and information and communication technologies.
